  • Burning the Midnight Oil

This is FredFred, super dog, and my first intern. He doesn't do much in the studio but he makes up for it in cuddling. He gets to sleep on my bed late into the night as I stay up working on cool new belt designs. I can't say much about what's coming up but the new designs are going to blow you away. I hate keeping secrets. But it will be worth the wait.

I love these snacks. Trader Joe's grocery store makes these 50 cent fruit leathers that I keep by the computer. So yummy and without the unnatural stuff. I just had a boysenberry one.

Ok, back to work for me.

  • $3 Shipping within the United States

The economy is not in the pooper. The banking industry simply needs a "time out" and no video games for a week.

But our present situation has us all thinking, including me. So for my part I am offering much lower shipping costs through an added United States Postal Service option. If you can do without a tracking number, shipping will now cost only $3.

And watch out for Mr. Puddin. He is a holiday maniac!

  • You have been warned!

  • Meet Heidi

Meet Heidi, the newest addition to the JonWye team. I first met Heidi at an event called 'Crafts and Kisses' and then again at a big D.C. festival, Adam's Morgan Day. Through a series of interesting circumstances Heidi is now my first intern. The gold standard to which all future interns will be judged. She works full time, is a full time student at the Corcoran School of Art, and on her first day in the workshop put in 7 hours, 3 of them just making belt loops. A task that is a pain in the bum, errrr... labor of love. Heidi gets 2 gold stars for her first day. I coveted gold stars in elementary school but don't think I got very many.

  • Show and Tell

Show and Tell time kids. In the middle of making a few hundred belts, my friend Ryan, bike polo enthusiast extraordinaire, sent me this link. Just the kind of levity I needed in the middle of the day.

  • Virtual Reality Belts

Thanks to the magic of the Internets I will soon be bringing you the Jon Wye belt collection in VR. This is a really really rough test shot of a belt as it does it's 360 degree turn for the camera. Soon you will be able to click on a belt, load it in, and rotate it to see all the awesome details.

I am super excited about this. Get pumped!

  • Meet the Artist: Scott White

That's me, Jon Wye, holding the sign that says, "Jon Wye." And the guy behind me is Scott White, one of my supremely talented artists.

We did this whole graffiti mural on my workshop/garage as a backdrop for a photo spread in a well known tattoo magazine. The writer was 'asked to leave' shortly after it was taken and so the article was never published.

I just found it again in all my gigs of photos and thought you might like to see.

And one more. Aren't we adorable!

  • New Store Carrying JonWye Awesomeness

Before writing this post I googled the word "awesomeness" to make sure I was spelling it correctly. It is an odd looking word. And what came up was the International Day of Awesomeness, which purports that "people are awesome every day, frequently don't realize it, and their feats of awesomeness are rarely recognized." And, "the easiest way to celebrate The International Day of Awesomeness is to be awesome." (www.dayofawesomeness.com)

This is what we need... Positive thinking, especially now.

On to the photo. With about 3 hours of sleep last night I have been working around the clock to finish building a belt display for a new store carrying my belts. They are called Dekka and located at 1338 U st NW in Washington DC.

Check them out. It's run by Joshua Tiktin who is bound to become a new good friend if I don't drive him nuts first.

  • My First Blog Post

I decided to change it up a bit. My previous website was a little too impersonal for the really amazing folks that have supported my work. So behold the new monsterous website and my new super-sauce blog.

I plan on keeping you updated with updates as my updatables become up to date.

And soon I will introduce you to Fred, wonder-dog and intern.

The photo below is my workshop. Oh the antics that happen in that shop. Actually it's mostly endless hours of work. A sauna in the summer and Superman's Ice Fortress in the winter.

Things are changing fast at jonwye.com. So as the most awesome band, Propellerheads, quotes, "George, get ready for another mind-blowing adventure."
